Ween - I’ll Miss You

-John Lennon
R.I.P. Ween 1984 - 2012
Gene Ween announced today that my favorite band of all-time, Ween, is breaking up. Like he said in the interview - they had a good run. A real good run.
I first heard Ween about 20 years ago when I was in the sixth or seventh grade. I was on a Boy Scout camping trip to Fort Knox, KY and my friend, Ryan Thomas, (who was two years older than me and a really hip dude at the time) played the God Ween Satan tape the whole way down there. I remember we were riding in the car with some Korean kid and his dad was driving. His dad was very culturally different than us and obviously hadn’t listened to much weird alternative rock music in his life. I’m pretty sure he thought we were absolutely nuts every time we asked him to rewind the tape so we could sing “Tick” at the top of our lungs again.

My newest hobby.
Well, here she is. The home brew kit from SF Brewcraft. It comes with everything you need to get started, including west coast-style “Nipples of Venus” IPA recipe. The guy that runs the place, Griz, looks like a beer making Santa Claus. (Taken with instagram)

Golden Gate Festival :: Golden Gate Bridge 75th Anniversary

This weekend is the 75th anniversary of the Golden Gate Bridge. The city is celebrating with a festival on the waterfront as well as a fireworks show in the evening.
Back in 1987, the 50th anniversary was celebrated with a poorly organized walk across the bridge. 80,000 people were expected, but somewhere closer to 800,000 people showed up. 300,000 of these people packed themselves on the bridge at the same time, which resulted in a very creepy scene when the normally arched bridge began to flatten under the weight.
